Back to School: Mom Edition

Back to School: Mom edition

Hear us out. Back-to-school season is typically all about the kids, but let’s be honest~ it's a huge transition for us moms too! Now is the time where moms everywhere are gearing up for a new routine. Here’s your quick read on how to make this transition smoother, with a dash of practicality.

Pen to Paper or Digital Master?

First things first: creating that dang schedule. Whether you’re a fan of the digital calendar or prefer the tactile satisfaction of a paper planner, having a plan is essential.

The digital schedule is perfect for tech-savvy moms who love the color-coded chaos at their fingertips. (Have you seen the viral Skylight yet?! -not an ad lol) It syncs with all your devices, even your husbands (not that that matters haha!) so you can check it while pretending to listen to your child’s latest Minecraft adventure.

On the other hand, a traditional planner offers the joy of physically writing down and crossing off tasks, which is oddly and incredibly satisfying. Plus, it doubles as a coaster for that much-needed coffee.

Meal Planning: Keep It Simple, Seriously!

Next up, the dreaded meal plan. The secret here is not to overcomplicate things. Read that again! Remember, you’re not auditioning for a cooking show, we ain’t Joanna Gaines and the Magnolia Table over here. A simple rotation of meals that your kids will actually eat is the goal. Think tacos on Tuesday, pasta on Wednesday, and a wild card on Friday (a.k.a. leftovers or pizza). Use your digital calendar to remind you to defrost the chicken or to pick up that elusive ingredient you always forget. This way, you can avoid the 5 p.m. scramble and maybe even have time to enjoy a glass of wine while you cook.

Self-Care: Because You’ve Totally Earned It.

After months of managing summer schedules and endless snack requests, it’s time for a little self-care. Whether it’s a quiet coffee break, a yoga class, or simply locking yourself in the bathroom for ten minutes of peace, make sure you carve out some time for yourself. Even better, pencil it in on that schedule for all to see! Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup~ especially when that cup is usually filled with lukewarm coffee.

Embrace the Chaos.

Finally, as simple as it sounds, embrace the chaos. Back-to-school is literally a whirlwind, but it’s also a chance for new beginnings. Laugh at the mishaps, celebrate the small victories, and remember that you’re not alone in this. We are all navigating the same challenges, and together we’ll make it through another school year~ one digital calendar reminder at a time.
